County Offices Closed for Veterans Day
Forsyth County government offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans Day. This includes county offices, the animal shelter, Senior Services, and recycling convenience centers. Recreation centers will be closed on Sunday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and will reopen on Monday, Nov. 12. Thank you to all veterans for your service!

Forsyth County Manager Eric Johnson has appointed Chris Grimes to serve as director of emergency management effective Nov. 1. Grimes has been serving as interim director of the department since the Oct. 16 retirement of Fire Chief/Director of Emergency Management Danny Bowman. Grimes has protected Forsyth County for 12 years. He began his tenure with Forsyth County in 2006 as an emergency management clerk. Time change is a helpful reminder to replace batteries The Forsyth County Fire Department reminds residents to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they set their clocks back an hour this Sunday, Nov. 4.  The Forsyth County Fire Department suggests that if the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are serviceable, they should be changed every six to twelve months. Prior to replacing the batteries, review the recommendations provided by the unit’s manufacturer, and replace the units themselves every seven to ten years.
