Forsyth County government has hired a director to lead its Senior Services Department. Ms. Ruthie Brew will join the county staff as director of Senior Services on October 10. This position oversees and directs the county’s three Senior Services centers, programs, services, operations and activities with the goal of maintaining or extending the independence of life and improving the quality of life for seniors in the community.   Brew brings to the position 14 years of professional experience in the field of aging. Forsyth County Senior Services is hosting their fourteenth annual Forsyth Senior Expo on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard.  The Forsyth Senior Expo includes free admission for attendees and is a popular event for seniors, their families, friends and caregivers. The event hosts vendors from home care, senior living, legal services and more. Forsyth County Government Offices to Close Friday, January 22 at 1 p.m.
Friday, January 22, 2016: Due to current weather conditions, all general Forsyth County government offices will close today at 1 p.m. This early closure includes county government offices, the Forsyth County Courthouse, the Animal Shelter, recycling convenience centers, Senior Services, and Forsyth County Parks and Recreation’s indoor and gated facilities. All Parks and Recreation programs and activities are cancelled today.

Help brighten the holiday season for Forsyth County homebound senior citizens by participating in the 2015 Home-Delivered Meals Holiday Gift Certificate Program.
