The first round of public workshops for Foster Forsyth, the process of updating the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, sought input from the community about the long-term priorities and vision for the county. Community members are now invited to imagine what that vision will look like at design workshops this May. Five design workshops will be held between May 11 and May 21, on varying days and times, and at a variety of locations. Update: At their meeting May 5, 2016, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved extension of the existing moratorium until June 3, 2016. Forsyth County Government Offices to Close Friday, January 22 at 1 p.m.
Friday, January 22, 2016: Due to current weather conditions, all general Forsyth County government offices will close today at 1 p.m. This early closure includes county government offices, the Forsyth County Courthouse, the Animal Shelter, recycling convenience centers, Senior Services, and Forsyth County Parks and Recreation’s indoor and gated facilities. All Parks and Recreation programs and activities are cancelled today.

Community Invited to Learn About, Provide Input on Subarea Plan for Portion of Northern Forsyth County
A subarea plan is being developed for a portion of northern Forsyth County to promote physical health through the interconnection of trails and paths in order to support increased walkability and bicycle travel. This plan will further the Forsyth County Bicycle Transportation & Pedestrian Walkways 2025 Plan by focusing on neighborhood connections to county facilities and commercial nodes across the subarea.   The Subarea Plan Project Team will hold two community workshops and a public meeting during October to welcome discussion and public input on the county’s subarea plan.
