Property Tax Rates Expected to Remain Unchanged; Increase in Tax Dollars from Growth in Tax Digest
Three public hearings to allow for public input   June 29, 2016: The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners today announces its intention to maintain the county’s millage rates currently in place with no change and, due to the growth in the tax digest, increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 1.89% over the rollback millage rate.   The proposed county Maintenance & Operations rate remains unchanged at 4.642 mills. Forsyth County continues to be recognized as StormReady®   The National Weather Service (NWS) has re-recognized Forsyth County as a StormReady® Community, a designation reflecting the county’s high level of severe weather preparedness. Forsyth County day care centers must register by June 17 to participate in event Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is hosting their annual Day Care Center Field Day on Wednesday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at Fowler Park. Temporary Closure of Jewell Bennett Road
Updated June 9, 2016: Jewell Bennett Road is expected to reopen today at 4:30 p.m. Thank you. Jewell Bennett Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic beginning Monday, June 6, 2016. The closure will allow for the replacement of an existing cross drain located at 6440 Jewell Bennett Road. Signage will be placed at Highway 9 and A.C. Smith Road during the closure. The road is expected to reopen to through traffic on or before Friday, June 10, 2016, weather permitting. Motorists’ patience during this temporary closure is appreciated.
