UPDATE: State Route 369 at State Route 400
Work to begin soon at interchange Over the next few months, residents will begin seeing activity at the intersection of State Routes 369 and 400 as preliminary work begins on widening of SR 369 and new interchange construction. This will include clearing the area, along with the removal of underground storage tanks. The transportation project to widen SR 369 and create a new interchange with SR 400 is scheduled to be sent out for bid in the fall of 2019. The county anticipates awarding the bid in early 2020. Effective July 1, 2019, the Forsyth County 911 Center has been realigned under the Forsyth County Emergency Management Agency (EMA). Previously, the 911 Center reported directly to the county manager. “Our goal is to continue to be as efficient as possible for our community,” said EMA Director Chris Grimes. “This realignment helps emergency personnel from all departments and agencies coordinate efforts more effectively.”  911 Center Interim Director Rebecca Russell will serve as deputy director of the 911 Center with a deputy for EMA to be named at a later date. The Ninth Judicial Administrative District’s Council of Superior Court Judges has elected Forsyth County Chief Judge Jeffrey S. Bagley as the District’s new administrative judge.      The Ninth Judicial Administrative District (JAD) consists of 15 counties divided into seven judicial circuits. The counties included Gwinnett, Hall and Cherokee as well 11 other counties north of Forsyth. The 29 Superior Court judges and 13 senior judges in the JAD make up the District Council of Superior Court Judges. Over the past year, Forsyth County has implemented changes designed to bring business into the County, as well as providing assistance to new and existing businesses as they navigate the permitting processes. To attract new businesses, Forsyth County has updated its Economic Development Ordinance and adopted a Schedule of Criteria for the first time. The Schedule of Criteria presents the business community with an outline of the type of businesses that the county is looking to incent while also outlining the criteria for incentive eligibility. Forsyth County Announces Property Tax Rates M&O, Fire Rates Increased, Bond Rate to be Reduced; Increase in Tax Dollars from Growth in Tax Digest
Three public hearings to allow for public input   The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners announces its intention to increase the county’s Maintenance & Operating and Fire millage rates. The Bond Rate is advertised to be reduced. Due to the growth in the tax digest, Maintenance & Operating property taxes levied by the County this year will increase by a net 7.42% over the rollback millage rate.   The proposed county net Maintenance & Operations rate increased to 4.791 mills. The proposed Fire rate increased to 2.175 mills. The proposed Bond rate will be reduced to 0.970 mills. Public input meetings to discuss proposed plans for a 100-mile greenway along the Chattahoochee River will be held Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23.  The Chattahoochee River Greenway Study is a proposed project that would create a greenway stretching the length of the river from Buford Dam in Forsyth County to Chattahoochee Bend State Park in Newnan, GA. The study is commissioned by the Atlanta Regional Commission, the Trust for Public Land, Cobb County and the City of Atlanta.
