Recognitions come from the National Association of County Information Officers   The National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) has recognized the Forsyth County Government 2015 Annual Report and the Forsyth County Fire Department 2015 Annual Report through the 2017 NACIO Awards of Excellence. Both reports earned an Excellence rating, the result of exceeding industry standards.   The Forsyth County Government 2015 Annual Report includes highlights from the year, updates on transportation projects and new parks, information on county government funding and more. Fireworks are best left to professionals The Forsyth County Fire Department urges citizens to practice safe handling of fireworks and to be alert while observing fireworks displays this Independence Day. “Fireworks displays are a part of many Independence Day celebrations but they are also very unpredictable, and accidents can occur with little to no warning,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman. “The best way to avoid injury is to remain alert and to leave the fireworks displays to trained professionals.” According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 230 people on average go to the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries ...

Ban runs through end of September A countywide, state-mandated ban on outdoor burning goes into effect Monday, May 1, and lasts through September 30. The ban prohibits all outdoor burning including the burning of leaves, trash, yard debris and storm damage. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division imposes this ban on outdoor burning to comply with Federal Clean Air Regulations. Construction of new Fire Station 8 was funded by a combination of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI program and Impact Fees.
