The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has announced Eric Johnson as the sole finalist for the position of county manager.   Mr. Johnson would bring to the position 30 years of experience in county government, including 24 years in senior management roles. He currently serves as assistant county administrator for Hillsborough County, Florida, a position he has held since 2015. On July 6, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners adopted the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan 2017-2037, the result of a multi-month comprehensive plan update process, branded as Foster Forsyth.   Foster Forsyth was a full update initiative to the county’s Comprehensive Plan, focused on community elements such as housing, transportation, zoning and other land use matters, as well as economic development. The Comprehensive Plan is the umbrella policy document for the county’s future growth and development, which plays an important role in rezoning and development decisions. Forsyth County Announces Property Tax Rates Expected to Remain Unchanged; Increase in Tax Dollars from Growth in Tax Digest
Three public hearings to allow for public input   The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners today announces its intention to maintain the county’s millage rates currently in place with no change and, due to the growth in the tax digest, increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 3.85% over the rollback millage rate.   The proposed county Maintenance & Operations rate remains unchanged at 4.642 mills. Update: At their meeting July 6, 2017, the Board of Commissioners voted to extend the moratorium until October 6, 2017 for Res1, Res2 and Res3 conservation subdivision rezoning applications as well as the moratorium on acceptance of land disturbance permits (LDPs) and sketch plat applications for Res1 conservation subdivisions.
