Dogs Removed from Residence in Forsyth County to be Available for Adoption at Forsyth County Animal Shelter Beginning April 2
  Twenty-six dogs that were removed from a residence on Franklin Goldmine Road in Forsyth County in early February will be available for adoption at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter beginning Saturday, April 2.   The dogs, 12 puppies and 14 adults, are Chihuahua-Jack Russell terrier mixes. Of the puppies, five are females and seven are males. Of the adults, eight are females and six are males.   “The dogs have been seen by a veterinarian and are all doing well,” said Forsyth County Animal Shelter Manager Jeanie Curphey. “We look forward to finding each of them a forever home.”   The dogs have been housed ...

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation summer camps registration is now open. A wide variety of camp options will be offered this summer including recreation day camps, sports camps, adventure camps and specialty camps.  Summer Day Camps These week-long day camps at Central Park, Fowler Park and Old Atlanta Park will provide a structured schedule of indoor and outdoor activities including games, art, fitness, special guests and other fun theme related activities. The camps will be held at the county recreation centers weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for ages 6 through 10. Forsyth County Parks & Recreation invites residents to a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. The outdoor event will take place in the parking area of the Central Park Recreation Center located at 2300 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming. Event organizers expect more than 20 vendors selling a variety of household goods, children’s items, tools and more. Park construction funded by Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond and by Impact Fees   Northeast Forsyth County will be home to a new 109-acre park, for which ground was broken Friday, March 18. For the fourth consecutive year, Forsyth County has been named the healthiest county in both metro Atlanta and the entire state – No. 1 among Georgia’s 159 counties! The distinction came as part of the annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps study initiated by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Forsyth County Senior Services is hosting their fourteenth annual Forsyth Senior Expo on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard.  The Forsyth Senior Expo includes free admission for attendees and is a popular event for seniors, their families, friends and caregivers.
