Forsyth County Superior Court to Host Mock Trial for Brookwood Elementary Students May 13
On Friday, May 13, local students will get a first-hand look at Forsyth County’s judicial system. Judge David L. Dickinson will host more than 150 fifth graders from Brookwood Elementary School for a mock trial in the Forsyth County Superior Court.     The students will stage the trial of the State of Georgia v. William T. Sherman. Survey is part of Parks & Recreation’s Comprehensive Master Plan Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is updating its Comprehensive Master Plan, a major planning process to set the blueprint for the future of the parks system in Forsyth County. The next step in the process is to hear the opinions of county residents through a mailed survey. Superior Court of Forsyth County Holds First C.A.R.E. Court Graduation
On May 6, five county residents became the first graduates of the Superior Court of Forsyth County’s Mental Health CARE (Change, Assist, Restore and Enlighten) Court. The graduation ceremony, which was held in the Forsyth County Courthouse, concluded more than two years of intensive supervision and treatment for the participants, who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness. Grant funding was secured in 2013 to provide for the planning phase of the Mental Health C.A.R.E. Court, and the program was launched in March 2014. Event slated for first three Saturdays in May The Forsyth County Fire Department is joining more than 100 fire departments across Georgia to help “Give Burns the Boot”® during their annual boot drive benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Weather permitting, motorists can expect to see firefighters at intersections throughout the county on three upcoming Saturdays: May 7, 14 and 21. Donations collected during the boot drive will be presented to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. 18 recruits graduate to become firefighters   In a ceremony held Friday, April 29, the Forsyth County Fire Department presented a number of awards, promoted nine personnel and graduated its newest recruit class. The first round of public workshops for Foster Forsyth, the process of updating the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, sought input from the community about the long-term priorities and vision for the county. Community members are now invited to imagine what that vision will look like at design workshops this May. Five design workshops will be held between May 11 and May 21, on varying days and times, and at a variety of locations.
