May 21, 2016: The boil water advisory that was issued Friday, May 20 for a portion of northeastern Forsyth County in the area of Shady Grove Road from Mountain View Trail to Lake Lanier, to include all roads off of Shady Grove Road between Mountain View Trail and the lake, has been lifted. Water quality tests have been completed and indicate the water is safe for consumption without boiling. During the May 19, 2016 meeting of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, tribute was paid to honor the three line-of-duty deaths the Forsyth County Fire Department has experienced since its inception. Roads renamed as a way to memorialize and honor Allyn Lane, Dennis C. Martin and Brant Chesney were the focus of a presentation during the meeting. May 20, 2016: A boil water advisory notice was issued just after midnight for a small portion of northeastern Forsyth County in the area of Shady Grove Road from Mountain View Trail to Lake Lanier, to include all roads off of Shady Grove Road between Mountain View Trail and the lake. Two sections of the Big Creek Greenway multi-use trail in Forsyth County will be temporarily closed beginning Tuesday, May 31.
