Feb. 16 COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments Delayed by Two Hours
Due to the possibility of black ice on Feb. 16, all scheduled COVID-19 vaccination appointments for Tuesday will have a two-hour delay as a safety precaution. All residents scheduled for the vaccine are asked to arrive for their appointment two hours after their original appointment time (example: If your appointment is scheduled for 9 a.m., it is now at at 11 a.m.). The vaccination site is staying open until 7 p.m. to accommodate all appointments. The vaccination event is for those receiving their second COVID-19 vaccination. Barry Lucas Named Interim Water & Sewer Department Director
County Manager Kevin Tanner appointed Barry Lucas to serve as interim Water and Sewer Department director effective Feb. 3, following the retirement of Director Tim Perkins. Perkins retired Feb. 2, after a 33-year career with Forsyth County government.   Lucas previously served as Deputy Director for the Forsyth County Water & Sewer Department since 2002. In that role, he was responsible for managing all engineering related activities for the department, including master planning, project planning, project management and construction of all capital improvement projects. UPDATE: February 3 Tornado Drill Siren Test Postponed
Feb. 3, 2021 12:00 p.m. During the tornado drill scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, as a part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, there was a software error that prevented the County’s outdoor severe weather sirens from sounding. Forsyth County EMA has engaged the siren manufacturer and engineers directly and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Another siren test will be conducted at a later date. Please note the tornado drill will only be conducted in the event of good weather, to avoid any confusion.
