The Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors will hold their Regular September meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held in Suite 260 of the Forsyth County Administration Building located at 110 East Main Street, Cumming, GA 30040.

 

The purpose of the meeting will be for discussion and consideration of the items as outlined on the attached agenda and such other business as may properly come before the Board.

BOARD OF TAX ASSESSORS

REGULAR MEETING

SEPTEMBER 9, 2021

 

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors held their regular meeting with the following persons present:  Phil Winter, Chairman; Rick O’Brien, Member; and Gerald Sullivan, Member; Christine Stallard, Personal Property Supervisor; Liz Malone, Commercial Appraiser Supervisor; Kevin Lamb and Ashley Smith, Commercial Appraisers; Kevin Ream, Deputy Chief Appraiser; Mary Kirkpatrick, Chief Appraiser; and Trassa Quarles, Secretary to the Board.

 

            ITEM I – CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER

 

Chairman Winter called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

 

            ITEM II – INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

Invocation was given by Mr. O’Brien.

 

            ITEM III – ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

 

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to adopt the agenda, as amended:

 

REMOVE:  ITEM V-B-2 – REMOVE “PERSONAL PROPERTY” FROM APPEALS TO

BE FORWARDED TO THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OR HEARING OFFICER

ADD:  ITEM V-B-6 – REQUEST TO END CUV ON C38-013 – MARTHA MASHBURN ETAL AND

C39-001 – SAWNEE VALLEY MARITAL TRUST

 

Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM IV – ADOPTION OF MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 12, 2021, REGULAR MEETING

 

There was a motion by Mr. Sullivan to adopt the minutes from the August 12, 2021, Regular Meeting.  Motion was seconded by Mr. O’Brien.  Motion carried unanimously.

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve ITEM 1, 2, and 3, as presented to the Board. Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.

ITEM 1 – COMMERCIAL PROPERTY

 

ITEM a – 30 DAY CHANGE OF ASSESSMENT

ITEM b – AGREEMENTS

 

There was a motion by Mr. Sullivan to approve ITEM 1 and 2, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. O’Brien.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM 2 – APPEALS TO BE FORWARDED TO THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION or HEARING OFFICER – COMMERCIAL

 

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve and forward the appeals to the Board of Equalization or Hearing Officer, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM 3 – WITHDRAWN APPEALS – PERSONAL PROPERTY AND COMMERCIAL

 

This item is for the Board’s information only.

 

ITEM 4 – 2021 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION APPLICATIONS

 

There was a motion by Mr. Sullivan to approve the 2021 Homestead Exemption Applications, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. O’Brien.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

ITEM 5 – CORRECTIONS

 

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve the corrections, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM 6 – REQUEST TO END CUV ON C38-013 – MARTHA MASHBURN ETAL AND C39-001 – SAWNEE VALLEY MARITAL TRUST

 

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve the request on both parcels.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

ITEM VI – CLOSED SESSION

 

Not needed at this time.

 

ITEM VII – ADJOURNMENT

 

With no further business to discuss, there was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to adjourn the meeting.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Sullivan.  Motion carried unanimously.  Chairman Winter adjourned this regular meeting of the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors of September 9, 2021, at 2:36 p.m.
