The Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Board will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at Fowler Park Recreation Building, located at 4110 Carolene Way, Cumming, GA 30040.

The purpose of the meeting will be for discussion and consideration of the items as outlined on the agenda and such other business as may properly come before the Board.

On Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Board held its regular meeting with the following board members present: Gary Cooper – Chairman, Brian Yearwood – Member, Matt McClure – Member, Terri Johnson – Member, Bibi Lopez – Member 

Parks and recreation staff present: Jim Pryor - Director, Tommy Bruce – Deputy Director, Laura Pate- Deputy Director, Lindsey Shrout – Administration & Marketing Manager, Jim Brennan – Recreation Manager, Jeff Jones – Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor 
I. Call Meeting to Order – 7:00 p.m. Gary Cooper, Chairman – Recognizing a quorum, the meeting was called to order. 
II. Pledge of Allegiance 
III. Approval of meeting minutes from August 4, 2021 meeting – There was a motion by Matt McClure and a second by Brian Yearwood to approve the minutes as written. The motion carried 5-0. 
IV. Citizens Wishing to be Heard (Regarding Non-Business Session Items) – None
V. Board Business Items 
a. August Commissioner Items (Jim Pryor, Director of Parks & Recreation)

b. Presentation from Therapeutic Recreation section of the Recreation Division
(Jim Brennan, Recreation Manager; Jeff Jones, TR Supervisor)
c. Discussion of strategic plan process and update of 2022 capital prioritization plan
(Jim Pryor, Director of Parks & Recreation)
i. Jim Pryor would like to schedule meetings in October with each board member and commissioner to discuss programs being offered in their individual districts. The plan is to strategize between the board and their commissioner to decide which projects are most important to their district. Everyone can then come together as a group and discuss towards the end of the year.

Jim Pryor reviewed the report for the board. 

VII. Comments from Parks & Recreation Board Members – None
a. Matt McClure asked about the potential of pickleball as a new program, tournament or revenue. Jim Pryor said that we don’t currently have the facility for tournaments.

VIII. The meeting was adjourned at 8:13 pm by Gary Cooper, Chairman and Brian Yearwood seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
