Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a vital role in the daily operations of our centers. Our programs are highly successful due to the contributions of our invaluable volunteers. Some of our volunteers donate their time while others make financial donations that are used for programming.

We are currently seeking applicants to connect with older adults and engage in meaningful interactions for these volunteer positions:

Meal Delivery Drivers for the Meals on Wheels Program:  Mornings, once per week, 2 - 3 hours.  Car required.  Meets at Charles Place and delivers meals to homes in Forsyth County.

Activity Aides in the Memory Support Program:  Once per week, 4 hours.  Located at Sexton Hall.

Interviewers for Life Story Program:  Spring and summer, several hours per week.  Minimum of 8 weeks.  By phone, online or in person.

Editors for Life Story Program:  Spring and summer.  Can volunteer from home.

Instructors and Presenters on Life Enrichment Topics:  One-time or ongoing classes for topics such as travel, foreign language, literature, cooking, fitness and music.  In the centers starting in June.

Our Mission

The mission of Forsyth County's Senior Services Department is to be the focal point where older adults gather for services and activities that respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage involvement in their community through programs designed to reduce isolation, improve nutritional health, support health and community education and provide access to more extensive services for seniors, caregivers and their families.
