Welcome to Forsyth County Animal Shelter, the only open admission shelter for Forsyth County. We are dedicated to rescuing, reuniting, and rehoming animals in Forsyth County. We do not turn any animal in need away regardless of breed, age, medical condition, or temperament. The shelter provides housing, care, and medical treatment to domestic stray, lost, abandoned, sick, injured, and surrendered animals.
Due to the increase in COVID-19 infections, the Forsyth County Animal Shelter is open for adoption by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
At the Forsyth County Animal Shelter, we strive to help you choose the pet that’s right for you and your family. We consider ourselves “match-makers,” helping you find the perfect pet match. Our staff works diligently to learn as much as we can about our adoption animals’ likes, dislikes, quirks and all-around personalities.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption profile form:
Once the form is filled out in its entirety, please email your profile to firstname.lastname@example.org and an adoption counselor will contact you to discuss the next steps in the adoption process and schedule an adoption appointment. All animals at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter are medically evaluated prior to being placed for adoption where they receive the following:
- Medical exam
- Age appropriate vaccinations (12 weeks and older will receive a Rabies Vaccination)
- Spay/neuter surgery
- Flea/Tick Prevention
- Heartworm test and prevention (dogs)
- Combo test (feline leukemia and FIV for cats)
- The adoption fee is $85.00
- All cats/kittens are (2) for $85.00
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is a humane organization that works tirelessly with the most vulnerable population of animals in our county. Our shelter prides itself on providing a “Fear Free” environment for the animals we care for. Since we are an open admission shelter, as opposed to a select admissions shelter, the animals we care for sometimes have more challenges medically, behaviorally, or are older in age. Thanks to partnerships across the country and through innovative adoption programming, the FCAS is able create positive outcomes for many of these animals.
