Forsyth County Dangerous/Potentially Dangerous Dog Hearing Board Meeting (Classification Animal Review Board Hearing)
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office - Department of Animal Control and Ordinances 101 East Main Street Cumming, GA 30040 August 16, 2012 – 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office - Department of Animal Control and Ordinances’ Conference Room, the Dangerous/Potentially Dangerous Dog Hearing Board held a meeting with the following persons present:

Dr. McGruder called the meeting to order at 7:36 p.m.
There was a motion by Kathy Genovese and a second by Cathy Stansbury to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously. There was a motion by Kathy Genovese and a second by Cathy Stansbury to adopt the minutes of the meeting from July 19, 2012. Motion carried unanimously.
There were no persons in attendance for public comment.

Hearing 20121409 for reclassification of potentially dangerous dog, Zeus Barber.
Animal Control Officer E. Long read the Animal Control incident report. Minor victim gave testimony. Victim’s mother gave testimony. Potentially dangerous dog owner, Paula Barber, gave testimony. Potentially dangerous dog classification upheld.
Hearing 20121767 for reclassification of potentially dangerous dog, Zoe Evans.
Animal Control Officer E. Long read the Animal Control incident report. Dog victim Zoey’s owner, Luann Edison spoke. Potentially dangerous dog owner, Uraina Rachel Evans, gave testimony. Karen Smalley, professional trainer, summarized behavioral assessment of Zoe Evans. Community resident, Allegra, spoke. Potentially dangerous dog classification upheld.
Hearing 20121757 for reclassification of dangerous dog, Arcadian Grella.
Animal Control Officer McKinzie read the Animal Control incident report. Victims, Jennifer and Chad Edwards, gave testimony. Dangerous dog owner, Kristen Grella, gave testimony. Mother-in-law Grella gave testimony. Dennis Vanderlin, expert in canine behavior, summarized an assessment performed on Arcadian. The Grella’s council, Jeff Starr, spoke. Carlos with Dawson County Animal Shelter spoke. Two of the Grella’s neighbors spoke. Dangerous dog classification overturned and Arcadian Grella is now unclassified.
Hearing 20121494 for reclassification of potentially dangerous dog, Phoebe Williams.
Animal Control Officer Audirsch read the Animal Control incident report. Victim was in college out of state and not present for hearing. Potentially dangerous dog owners Betty and Jim Williams spoke. Owner Jim Williams recommended the board consider amending the Dangerous Dog Ordinance to allow for reconsideration of reclassification after a period of time. As the current ordinance stands, once the dog is identified as dangerous/potentially dangerous, they are stuck with that classification for their lifetime. Potentially dangerous dog classification upheld.
Hearing 20121688 for reclassification of potentially dangerous dog, Toby Walker.
Animal Control Officer Meradgi read the Animal Control incident report. Dog victim Riley’s owner, Carol Conboy gave testimony. Potentially dangerous dog owners Mr. and Mrs. Cherita Walker gave testimony. Potentially dangerous dog classification upheld.
Hearing 20121770 for reclassification of dangerous dog, Sugar Quinn.
Neither victim nor dangerous dog owner, Kevin Quinn, appeared for the hearing. Dangerous dog classification upheld.
There was no additional business to come before the board.
There was a motion by Kathy Genovese and a second by Cathy Stansbury to adjourn the meeting at 11:17 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
