Child Passenger Safety Week is September 16-22
All too often, Forsyth County Fire Department personnel responding to the scene of a motor vehicle accident find that children are not properly restrained or that child safety seats were installed incorrectly. In the past, as many as 90% of the child safety seats inspected by the Fire Department’s trained technicians have been found to be improperly installed.
That is why safety events like Child Passenger Safety Week, September 16-22, 2012, are so important.
During Child Passenger Safety Week and throughout the year, the Forsyth County Fire Department wants to help ensure children are riding safely by offering free child safety seat inspections. During the inspections, parents, grandparents and caregivers are educated on the proper installation and use of their child safety seats and then install the child safety seats themselves to ensure their understanding of the procedure.
“It is very important for parents, grandparents and caregivers to know proper child safety seat installation techniques,” Division Chief Jason Shivers said. “As a Fire Department, we want to do all we can to help the children in Forsyth County be safe and secure when riding in vehicles.”
To schedule a child safety seat inspection, please call Forsyth County Fire Department Headquarters at 770.781.2180 (extension 0).
