GDOT Announces New Signal on SR 141
Updated August 7, 2012: The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announces the new traffic signal in at the intersection of State Route 141/Peachtree Parkway and Stoney Point Road will be operational before lunch today. The forecast is for rain this afternoon so crews are working to turn on the signal this morning. Originally the signal was planned to be operational this afternoon. The new signal is flashing in test mode now.
WHAT: A new traffic signal will become operational today
WHERE: State Route 141/Peachtree Parkway at Stoney Point Road in Cumming
WHEN: Today before lunch
“Crews are on site now to finish testing, double check signage and pavement markings before starting the signal. Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too,” said Georgia DOT District Engineer Bayne Smith.
August 2, 2012: The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announces a new traffic signal in at the intersection of State Route 141/Peachtree Parkway and Stoney Point Road. The new signal is flashing in test mode now. If weather permits and testing goes well, the signal will be operational the afternoon of Tuesday, August 7.
Each intersection is reviewed to determine if the intersection meets the federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal. The intersection of State Route 141 and Stoney Point Road met those requirements.
“Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too,” said Georgia DOT District Engineer Bayne Smith.
