At their August 2, 2012 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance regulating substances that mimic the effects of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids (a/k/a “Spice” or “K2”) that are not otherwise regulated by state law, to be added to Article 1 of Chapter 50, Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions, of the Forsyth County Code of Ordinances.
The ordinance adds a section to Article 1 of Chapter 50, Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions, of the Forsyth County Code of Ordinances, that will regulate the use, sale, possession, manufacturing with intent to sell, possession, purchase, delivery, transport or distribution of defined substances known as “Unregulated Marijuana Substitutes” that mimic the effects of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids and that are not otherwise regulated by state law; provide for penalties for violating that added section; provide for severability; repeal conflicting ordinances; and for other purposes.
Public hearings on this matter were held July 5, 2012 and August 2, 2012.
