The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a town hall meeting regarding the proposed city of Sharon Springs on Tuesday, February 27. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College.   The purpose of the town hall meeting is for the Board of Commissioners to hear from the public regarding the proposal to create the new city of Sharon Springs within Forsyth County. Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Elects Officers for 2018
During their first meeting of the year on January 4, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners elected officers for 2018. District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent was elected to serve his second year as chairman; District 5 Commissioner Laura Semanson was elected to continue serving as vice chairman; and District 2 Commissioner Dennis Brown will continue to serve as secretary.   The Board of Commissioners is made up of five members, each living in a specific district and elected by their district to serve four-year terms. Each year in January, the five members elect officers for the coming year.

For the fifth consecutive year, Forsyth County has been named the healthiest county in Georgia. The distinction comes as part of the annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps study initiated by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The rankings are based on county residents’ quality of life and length of life, and the report presents a series of other factors that help influence those criteria.
