The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a town hall meeting regarding the proposed city of Sharon Springs on Tuesday, February 27. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College.   The purpose of the town hall meeting is for the Board of Commissioners to hear from the public regarding the proposal to create the new city of Sharon Springs within Forsyth County. Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Elects Officers for 2018
During their first meeting of the year on January 4, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners elected officers for 2018. District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent was elected to serve his second year as chairman; District 5 Commissioner Laura Semanson was elected to continue serving as vice chairman; and District 2 Commissioner Dennis Brown will continue to serve as secretary.   The Board of Commissioners is made up of five members, each living in a specific district and elected by their district to serve four-year terms. Each year in January, the five members elect officers for the coming year.

Newly-elected Forsyth County District 2 Commissioner Dennis T. A special election to fill the Forsyth County District 2 commission post will be held Tuesday, November 7. Rick Swope resigned from the post August 15, as a result of his recent acceptance of an executive position with E*TRADE, a position which strictly limits outside business activities including public service positions. The special election will fill Swope’s unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2020. The trail’s soft-surface material will be coated with a polymer product Chattahoochee Pointe park is scheduled to close Tuesday, May 30, for approximately one week in order to coat the trail with a polymer product. This trail improvement was planned in conjunction with the recent Chattahoochee Pointe park improvements but needed the right outdoor temperature to complete the work. The polymer product, called M10+50, is a long-lasting, cost-effective solution to maintaining the life of the trail. Center began renovations in July 2016 Forsyth County’s Senior Services officially reopened Sexton Hall Enrichment Center, on Friday, May 5, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The renovated Sexton Hall Enrichment Center is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road. The renovation of Sexton Hall Enrichment Center was funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI penny sales tax program.
