The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a town hall meeting regarding the proposed city of Sharon Springs on Tuesday, February 27. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College.   The purpose of the town hall meeting is for the Board of Commissioners to hear from the public regarding the proposal to create the new city of Sharon Springs within Forsyth County. For the fifth consecutive year, Forsyth County has been named the healthiest county in Georgia. The distinction comes as part of the annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps study initiated by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The rankings are based on county residents’ quality of life and length of life, and the report presents a series of other factors that help influence those criteria. New Climbing Tower at Sawnee Mountain Preserve to Open in April
Group programs can now be scheduled A new adventure is coming to Sawnee Mountain Preserve. A climbing tower is scheduled to open in April and will be used for camps, group programs, birthday parties and individual climbing passes. The tower allows for top-rope climbing, lead climbing and rappelling. There are multiple routes ranging in heights from 32 to 38 feet, and it offers areas for climbing and rappelling. The tower has 2,208 square feet of climbing area and can accommodate up to 10 climbers and two rappel participants at one time.
