The Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors will hold their regular February meeting on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Forsyth County Administration Building located at 110 East Main Street, in Suite 260.

 

The purpose of the meeting will be for discussion and consideration of the items as outlined on the attached agenda and such other business as may properly come before the Board.

REGULAR MEETING

February 9, 2017

 

On Thursday, February 9, 2017, the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors held their regular meeting with the following persons present:  Phil Winter, Chairman; Rick O’Brien, Vice-Chairman; Charles Cantrell, Member; Charles Meagher, Member; and Ken Leach, Member; Gerald Sullivan, Property Owner; Christine Stallard, Personal Property Supervisor;  Mary Kirkpatrick, Chief Appraiser and Trassa Quarles, Secretary to the Board.

 

            ITEM I – CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER

Chairman Winter called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

 

            ITEM II – INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Invocation was given by Chairman Winter.

 

            ITEM III – ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

There was a motion by Mr. Meagher to adopt the agenda, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Cantrell.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM IV – ADOPTION OF MINUTES FROM JANUARY 12, 2017, REGULAR MEETING

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to adopt the minutes of the January 12, 2017, regular meeting, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Leach.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            ITEM V – MS. OLGA PERUCHINI – PROPERTY OWNER – 178-663

The home on this property did not get updated when the office changed over to the new CAMA system.  There was a correction written for the last three years.  Ms. Peruchini has requested to have a correction done for more years.  Ms. Peruchini was not in attendance.  There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to deny the request, because  the Board cannot refund more than three years.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Cantrell.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

             ITEM VI – NEW BUSINESS

 

ITEM A – PERSONAL PROPERTY

 

              ITEM 1 – CORRECTIONS

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve the corrections, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Leach.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

ITEM B – REAL PROPERTY

 

              ITEM 1 – EXEMPT PROPERTY - WAR HILL CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP – 276-017

There was a motion by Mr. Leach to approve the application for Exempt status.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Meagher.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

              ITEM 2 – CONSERVATION USE APPLICATIONS

NEW APPLICATIONS

190-045 – Martin – There was a motion by Mr. Meagher to approve.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Leach.  Motion carried unanimously.

268-098 – Grindle – There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Meagher.  Motion carried unanimously.

276-009 – Bruce – There was a motion by Mr. Meagher to approve.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Leach.  Motion carried unanimously.

307-204 – Hogan – There was a motion by Mr. Leach to approve.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Cantrell.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

RENEWAL APPLICATIONS

There was a motion by Mr. O’Brien to approve each of the applications, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Cantrell.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

CONTINUANCE APPLICATIONS

There was a motion by Mr. Cantrell to approve each of the applications, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. O’Brien.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

              ITEM 3 – CORRECTIONS

There was a motion by Mr. Cantrell to approve the corrections, as presented to the Board.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Leach.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

ITEM VII – CLOSED SESSION

Not needed at this time.

 

ITEM VIII – ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to discuss, there was a motion by Mr. Meagher to adjourn the meeting.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Cantrell.  Motion carried unanimously.  Chairman Winter adjourned this regular meeting of the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors of February 9, 2017, at 2:48 p.m.
