PUBLIC NOTICE

 

The Forsyth County Civil Service Board will hold a meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex located at 3520 Settingdown Road, Cumming, Georgia 30028.

 

The purpose of the meeting will be for discussion and consideration of the items as outlined on the agenda and such other business as may properly come before the Board.

Chairman Smith recognized a quorum and called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.

II. Adoption of Agenda
  

There was a motion to amend the agenda by adding Item (6) Appointment of Assistant Clerk – Chairman Smith by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 

There was a motion by Jerry Bowman and a second by Tim Perry to adopt the agenda as amended.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 
III. Adoption of Minutes:

 

  1. Regular Meeting December 8, 2016

    There was a motion by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman to adopt the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on December 8, 2016.  The motion carried unanimously.

     

IV. Items for consideration and discussion:
     

(1)        Attorney Updates (if any) – Richard Neville, General Counsel/Hearing Officer

            a. Sheriff Piper’s Writ of Certiorari (Funkhouser) – Mr. Neville informed the Board that Logan Butler had entered a motion to withdraw as counsel for Sheriff Piper.  There has been no orders and the next step for the Civil Service Board will be to await Sheriff Freeman’s actions and if needed, a motion for hearing can be filed.

 

(2)        Administrative Updates (if any) – Charity Clark, Clerk

            a. Updated 2017 Witness & Subpoena Documents – Chairman Smith executed the current subpoena documents to utilize in any hearings held in 2017.

(3)        Appointment of Alternate Member to Civil Service Board for 2017 – Chairman Smith

            There was a motion by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman to re-appoint Lorne Twiner.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 

(4)        Appointment of Counsel/Hearing Officer for Civil Service Board for 2017 – Chairman Smith

            There was a motion by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman to re-appoint Rich Neville as Counsel/Hearing officer for 2017.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 

(5)        Appointment of Clerk for Civil Service Board for 2017 – Chairman Smith

            There was a motion by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman to re-appoint Charity Clark as Clerk.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 

(6)        Appointment of Assistant Clerk for Civil Service Board for 2017 – Chairman Smith

            There was a motion by Tim Perry and a second by Jerry Bowman to appoint Amber Watson as the Assistant Clerk.  All were in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

 

V. Executive Session (if needed)

None.

 

VI. Adjourn

There was a motion by Jerry Bowman and a second by Tim Perry to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 10:12 a.m.
