Building Inspections Back To F.A.Q. Page

Must all sub-contractors register to do business in Forsyth County?

Yes, any individual or business working in Forsyth County must register with the business licensing department, including individual sub-contractors. Applications are available online: Business Licenses / Registrations and Renewals.

What fees will I have to pay for building inspections?

No fee is collected for initial inspection in addition to the building permit fee.  If an inspection is failed, or must be rescheduled for any reason, a “reinspection fee” will be collected to offset the cost of additional visits on an incremental basis. All outstanding reinspection fees must be paid prior to scheduling a final inspection.

What inspections may be required for my project?

Different inspections are required based on the project’s scope of work.  Please select the “Do I need a permit?” for details on what needs a permit and the process of the project.

How do I schedule an inspection?

To schedule inspections online go to eStatus Mobile Inspections. For further assistance call 770-781-2115 to speak with a building permit representative. Please be prepared to provide your permit number.

Can I request to schedule a specific time for an inspection?

Inspection dates are automatically generated based on the volume of inspection requests and availability of inspectors, it is not possible to select a specific time or date for an inspection either if the inspection is made by phone or online.

What if I need to cancel an inspection?

An inspection must be canceled prior to the inspector’s visit or the inspection will be considered “failed”.  The individual field inspector must be notified directly in order to cancel the visit.  Please find the Inspections Department Phone Directory for contact information. Please be prepared to provide your permit number.
