    Pandemic Preparedness

The Forsyth County Emergency Management Agency is leading a community effort to plan for outbreaks of influenza of a pandemic proportion. This planning includes the Bird Flu which has been identified as a major concern of the Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control.

All facets of the community are taking part in this planning process, including businesses, health care, the school system, faith-based organizations and more. The county’s goal is to inform residents about influenza and pandemic issues and to develop a comprehensive plan should such an outbreak occur.

Individual citizens should take steps to prepare and gather information in order to lessen the effects of a pandemic on their family; the Emergency Management Agency and other community organizations are excellent resources for this preparation.

The information below will help you better understand the need for development of preliminary plans to deal with this issue.
