The Roads and Bridges Division's primary mission is the repair and maintenance of existing county roads promptly, efficiently and economically using well-planned activities, proper equipment, and skilled and dedicated employees. The division is responsible for milling and deep-patching operations in conjunction with LARP and county resurfacing contracts. The milling / patching crew anticipates completing approximately 64 miles of roadway this year in conjunction with these two contracts. This crew uses a milling machine which mills out old asphalt at various depths and then reinstalls hot mix asphalt which is placed by a spreader. After that process is completed, a vibratory roller will compact it. It can take anywhere from a week up to a month to complete a large road.
To request a street to be resurfaced please contact the Engineering Department.
Forsyth County Resident should contact the Roads and Bridges Division of the Engineering Department at (770) 781-2155 to request delivery or be placed on a waiting list for available asphalt milling material. A completed "Right to Enter Agreement" (form is available on this web page or at the county office) must be submitted with your request or be on file with the Roads and Bridges Division before being placed on the waiting list. Accepted delivery requests are considered on a first come, first serve basis and delivery must be within close proximity of the milling operation.
This offer is for DELIVERY ONLY and the county WILL NOT SPREAD any material for any reason. The location for dumping must be identified on the "Right to Enter Agreement" and be clearly marked at the physical site for county operators to deliver the waste material. |
