Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are important for our programs, whether serving needy older adults or providing life enrichment activities at our centers. Volunteers donate their time while others make financial, energy, goods and services, and make financial contributions. All are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Most volunteer opportunities are for adults, although outdoor projects and special presentations are sometimes offered by youth organizations.
Volunteer candidates will be asked to fill out an application, attend an interview, and submit to a background check.
Current Needs
We are currently seeking applicants to connect with older adults and engage in meaningful interactions for these volunteer positions:
Outreach
Worker for Food Pantry:
Several times per month, 2-3 hours per shift. Accompany staff to lower income apartment complexes to set-up and provide an outdoor mobile food pantry. Depart from Charles Place. Must be able to lift light weight bags and boxes of food.
Interviewers for Life Story Program: Several hours per week. Minimum of 8 weeks. By phone, online or in person.
Instructors and Presenters on Life Enrichment Topics: One-time or ongoing classes for topics such as travel, foreign language, literature, cooking, fitness and music.

Donations
The department is always in need of non-perishable food for the food bank, art supplies, and in warm weather months, plants for our gardens. The holidays are a time of special need for the Angel Tree gift program and holiday meal certificate program, both of which serve our neediest homebound seniors.
