About Code Enforcement

Forsyth County Code Enforcement is responsible for preserving the quality and value of public and private property and maintaining a high quality of life for our citizens by eliminating conditions that threaten the health, safety and welfare of the public we serve.

Forsyth County Code Enforcement provides a systematic response to citizen’s complaints and enforces Forsyth County Codes and the Unified Development Code to ensure every citizen the right to a clean, enjoyable neighborhood and community environment.

Effective code enforcement can have a major influence on the safety of the county and its citizens. Safety is a primary concern.

We are proud to serve our citizens and our goal is not only to perform fair and equitable enforcement of the codes, but also to educate citizens of the codes. We constantly seek a partnership with the community in our code enforcement efforts.

Often, it is a difficult task in maintaining the balance between the rights of individual property owners and the welfare of the public when enforcing the codes. We continue to refine the skills, practices and professionalism of our Code Enforcement staff through continued education and technology advances.

Our goal is and will continue to be voluntary compliance of our codes before pursing further enforcement action. Forsyth County Code Enforcement officers are here to serve our citizens and will do so honestly and fairly.

Forsyth County Code Enforcement officers are dedicated professional men and women who are Board Certified members of the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement Officers (G.A.C.E.) having completed different levels of training and certification of the Fundamentals of Code Enforcement, Legal Issues in Code Enforcement, Nuisance Abatement and others.

Forsyth County Code Enforcement is not law enforcement. For offenses of a criminal nature, the appropriate law enforcement agency should be contacted. Forsyth County Code Enforcement only responds to complaints and code violations within the boundaries of the county proper. For violations occurring within the city limits, the city Of Cumming should be contacted.
